Broadwater to exhibit Safeglide Chutes at IMHX

The time has come, once again, for Broadwater to showcase the most efficient way to move goods from one floor down to another.

Promoting the latest technology and the best the industry has to offer – IMHX, boasted as the UK’s largest logistics event, is held every 3 years at the Birmingham NEC.

Broadwater have been manufacturing Safeglide chutes since the 1980s and they have, over the past four decades, found their way into Distributions centers, Sortation Systems, Baggage Handling Systems and retail outlets – with some of the original chutes still in use today.

The chutes are beguiling in their simplicity, comprising of nothing more than GRP moulded sections, mounted onto a steel post with gravity as the power source.  Their working surface is impregnated with stainless steel powder to make for a low friction tough surface – enough to stand thousands of items per hour.  Safeglide chutes come in a variety of profile sizes to suit the intended application and item size.

The cambered profile of each section allows for smaller items to travel faster towards the center post, while larger items are forced to the outer edge of the profile controlling their speed of descent. Their pitch also allows for self starting, making them ideal for parcel sortation or distribution.

Integrating seamlessly, Safeglide chutes are compatible with any goods handling system.  Broadwater are able to modify parts to allow for the installation of monitoring and controlling equipment such as Photocells, Lasers, barcode scanners, brake curtains, safety nets and much, much more.  As they have no moving parts or power requirements they are also fiercely efficient, needing little to no maintenance.

To find out more and meet the Safeglide team, they’ll be on stand E155 in Hall 5 of the Birmingham NEC from the 9th to the 11th September.
